Well, I can certianly see why the security forces were so tense about Mr. Spiers' photography -- the train bridge and the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks are the main economic artery for the entire west coast of the United States! Clearly it's one of the top targets for any terrorist organization that desires to cripple the US economy in a single blow!
Sadly, there are probably people who will feel safer because of this incident, and others like it. As long as someone else is made to feel uncomfortable, and not them, then they're getting their money's worth.
