microcrisis averted

OK. I have decided I do really want the book... but I neither wanted nor needed to go out tonight to get a copy.

I made a deal that if I made my 700-word deadline by 11:00 then we could wake the kid and all go to the Harry Potter launch at Bolen Books. At 10:55 I sent off more than 800 words, but decided that the kid didn't need to be awake at midnight and that Victoria would not sell out of the book in the next 48 hours.

I am such a spaz! Thank goodness my hubby is a patient man. :)

That's so funny! Since you put in more than 700 words you should demand a $5 discount (at least). There's been a price war on the book here for a month or more, so I managed to get it for $27.95. I think I may have seen it cheaper elsewhere, too.

The launch was at the more civilised hour of 9am here; not terribly atmospheric, but convenient for moi who was commencing a 5 hour train journey at 11am. It helped while away the trip nicely, but despite a couple of juicy story points I'm actually not that engaged by this one yet. I guess I need to bear in mind that it's written for people a quarter to one third my age.

Well, around here they've been battling it out, too. I suspect this weekend no one will sell it for cover price. Best I've seen so far is $24.99 at Save-on-Foods of all places.

Bah. There's a less than 50% chance I would run for the hills on any given day.

Mike: I know, but it's not *much* less.

Willietheshakes: I'll bet I did... but it meant I got to sleep at a (quasi-)decent hour.
